The Concert Choir takes its first spring break tour since 2019, singing in venues in Kansas, Iowa, Illinois and Missouri, beginning Friday, March 3, with an evening concert in Kansas City.

Rather than a “home concert” at the end of the tour, the choir gave a Feb. 26 concert as a tour send-off.

All concerts are free and open to the public, with freewill offerings taken in some locations.

William Eash’s final tour as director of Bethel's large choir is taking the group to Germany, Poland, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia, May 17-June 8.

They will sing concerts in Berlin, Großbeeren and Kyritz in Germany; Gdansk, Kraków and Warsaw in Poland; Budapest; Sarajevo and Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina; and Pridvorje and Dubrovnik in Croatia.

While on a sabbatical semester in Poland, Professor of History Mark Jantzen organized the tour. He will travel with the choir.

The 2021-22 edition of Woven

After a pandemic-forced break, Bethel Sings returns to campus on Sunday, Oct. 31, at 4 p.m. on the Ad Building steps (or Mem Hall in case of bad weather).

Bethel choral groups will present this fall showcase (note the change of location from some previously printed calendars).

The concert will move indoors, to Memorial Hall, if the weather requires it. But William Eash, D.M.A., director of choral activities, hopes that won’t happen.

“We can now sing without masks if we’re outdoors,” he said.

Concert Choir singing on Klingenberg farm

Fresh from an exclusive engagement in rural Marion County, the Concert Choir and small ensembles will perform an end-of-year concert Sunday, May 2.

The choir will sing on the steps of the Administration Building May 2 at 4 p.m. The event will also feature the a cappella groups Open Road (men) and Woven (women).

In mid-April, Derek Klingenberg invited the Concert Choir to his family’s rural Peabody farm to sing lullabies to a pair of young Great Horned Owls that were hatched on the property in early March. Klingenberg has a 24-hour “owl cam” watching the nest.
