Julián Gonzalez-Salamanca, director of the ODEI, has released a public statement marking the June 19 holiday.

Bethel President Jon C. Gering, Ph.D., earlier this week announced that Gonzalez-Salamanca, who had been serving in a two-year interim position with the new Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), has been given a permanent appointment, and that the office’s new name now includes the word “Equity” (ODEI).

Gonzalez-Salamanca sent out the following statement:

Dear Bethel College community,

Students whose semester grade point average is 3.7 or higher are named to the Dean’s List, while those with a GPA of 3.50-3.699 are listed as members of the Honor Roll.

Bethel softball celebrated an infrastructure milestone with the June 4 groundbreaking for a new building.

Representatives from the college and Vogts Construction were on hand at Wedel Field on the Bethel campus with hard hats and shovels to kick off construction of a combination locker room and clubhouse.

After a recent announcement that the 2020 fall semester will begin with in-person classes, President Jon Gering has now shared more information about the college’s plans.

“Our academic calendar originally identified Aug. 19 as the start date for classes,” he said. “We have examined other calendar options with earlier start dates.

The second concert in the annual Organ Recital Series will feature Mark Campbell, M.M., and Edward Poston, Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Ad Building chapel.

The two are in graduate studies at the University of Kansas.

This represents a change in the original schedule. Shirley Sprunger King, D.M.A., will now play in the series on April 17.
