Dr. Henry Waters to lead his first Bethel Masterworks concert

Henry S. Waters, D.M.A., will direct the annual Masterworks concert, featuring mass choir, orchestra and soloists, on Sunday, April 30, at 4 p.m. (note time change from some previously printed sources) in Mem Hall.

The concert will comprise the Mozart Missa in C, K. 317 “Coronation” and Beethoven Fantasie for Piano, Chorus and Orchestra, op. 80 “Choral Fantasy.”

Bethel musical production to include one night of ASL interpretation

Bethel’s Departments of Music and Theater will present Bright Star, March 25, 26 and March 27, with sign language interpretation for the Friday performance, in Krehbiel Auditorium in Luyken Fine Arts Center.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

The two American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters are Peter Boklund, Wichita, and Laura Reimer, Hesston, of Boklund Interpreting Services.

Pakistani musician at Bethel as virtual visiting artist

A sound artist "on campus" this week will wrap up her time with a Zoom performance open to the public.

Zeerak Ahmed is in virtual residence with students in the art and music departments, visiting Slow Art for Fast Times, Music History, Jazz Ensemble, and Composition classes, hosted by Rachel Epp Buller, Ph.D., associate professor of visual arts and design, and Joel Boettger, M.M., and Christina Liu, Ph.D., from the music department.

Friday will be final night for spring musical

Because of the current public health emergency, there will be no third performance of the spring musical as originally scheduled – tonight is the last chance to see it.

Call the Bethel ticket office at 316-284-5205 today through 5 p.m. for a refund on tickets purchased for the Saturday night performance, or to exchange them for Friday night tickets.

As John McCabe-Juhnke prepares for his directing swan song at Bethel College, he’s happy to be “graduating” with this particular group of actors.
