For the second year in a row, a Bethel student is the winner of the annual Dwight Beckham Young Soloist competition (college division) sponsored by the Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra.
Josué Coy Dick, a junior from North Newton, is a violinist.
In addition to being this year’s college division winner, Coy Dick won as a high school student in 2020.
There are five student recitals between Nov. 11 and Nov. 19 -- the next up is Hayden Honomichl's senior voice recital on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m.
Honomichl, Great Bend, Kan., will give his recital in the Ad Building chapel, accompanied by Dr. Christina Liu.
The recital features the music of Scarlatti, Purcell, Menken and others.T
Emil Benavides, Stockton, Kan., and Dylan Yoder, Hutchinson, Kan., will give a joint junior recital Sunday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m. in the Ad Building chapel, accompanied by Dr. Christina Liu.
